A Time for Transition

It’s hard to believe that the time has arrived for us to transition out of youth ministry into our work with Armonia! Right now our lives are slightly chaotic, if chaos is a measurable thing, in our attempt to pack most of our belongings, sell some things, give other things away, and figure out what we will need for our time with Armonia and if we can fit it in our car. In addition, there are all the details surrounding a move such as this, with added twists to things like insurance and bank accounts because we are moving to Mexico.

Since we are not going with an official sending agency, we have had to figure many of these details out ourselves, which has been a great learning experience, and will really help us in our effort to craft an Armonía visitors manual for those volunteers coming from the US. In addition, we have been very pleased with the organization, Christian Services Inc., that has been handling donations, keeping accurate financial records, and taking this burden off our shoulders. If you want more information about this, please let us know.

At this point in the transition, we are thinking in “twos.” We have roughly two weeks before leading a group of students to Armonia for a missions trip on July 26. This will be our last official leadership responsibility with the youth ministry, and we are hoping and praying for a very memorable time with these students. This missions trip will last two weeks, after which the youth will return but we will stay an additional two weeks in order to prepare for our move to Mexico and take Saul’s Transformation Course that he is teaching in Oaxaca (more on this later). We will return to Saint Louis on August 22, having about two weeks back at home before driving down to Mexico around September 1.

During this transition time, we would love your prayers for the following:

  • Smooth transition in the youth ministry leadership at our church
  • Lasting impact on the students who will be going to Armonia in a few weeks
  • Tying up details pertaining to our move
  • Additional support needed to reach our minimum (around $5000)
  • Safe travel back and forth to Mexico
  • Emotional stability in the face of leaving close friends and family

Thank you for all your prayers, which is not just preparation for important work, but is the important work.

We are excited for you both to learn, grow, and return with great stories of God’s work in you and in Mexico!

  3. Transitions are hard things for the infant to the elderly infirm and everyone in between. The good news is that God’s grace is exponentially evident in our lives during these times of transition. So we are assured that you will be experiencing God’s grace in abundance in the weeks and months ahead! God bless you both richly!
