The wikipedia article on “gambling in the UK” said that a 2005 Act of Parliament allowed the building of resort-like super-casinos like those in Las Vegas. I guess Manchester won the bid for the first one, but nothing like Las Vegas exists yet in the UK. That’s probably a good thing.

Looking for opinions – is the majority of response Las Vegas because Las Vegas does a better job of marketing their attractions than the marketing done by the Dept. of Tourism for the National Park System? Or is there another reason?

I guess that could be, although I think there is something exotic about Las Vegas that cannot be found anywhere else in the world that would draw people from here. That being said, you can’t find Glacier National Park or the Grand Canyon anywhere else in the either!
